POST TOASTIES HISTORY
1934 Post Toasties cereal advertised to kids by providing cut-outs of Mickey and his pals on the back of the cereal boxes. Walt and Roy Disney struck a deal with Post to increase visibility of Mickey Mouse and friends as their first cartoons came out in 1926. Whatever profits realized by these smart business maneuvers by Roy Disney were quickly put to use when Walt decided to take his animation studio to the next level. Years in the making and at a cost that drained Disney of all of his finances at the time, “Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs” became the film industry’s first-ever full-length animated feature motion picture in 1937 and the Post Toasties deal gave them the money to make Snow White this thrusting Disney into the number one kids movie maker.
The clever newspaper ads and Marketing of Mickey and Friends helped grow popularity. The print ads included Mickey and Minnie saying …
“I’m on Post Toasties boxes now! Here’s a barrel of fun for boys and girls! Wonderful cut-outs of Mickey and his pals are on some Post Toasties packages ...
The Three Little Pigs on others. Children love them!”
“Serve Post Toasties often! The whole family will love these golden, toasted corn-heart flakes that stay crisp and crunchy in milk or cream. A product of General Foods.”
Minnie offered a similar message: “Cut me off the Post Toasties box.” ... “You’ve never seen such wonderful Cut-Outs as these!”
You sometimes find Post Cereal Box’s and panels but this is a very rare Case Box that was almost always thrown away – VERY RARE – definitely more rare than the box’
