    Description

Cereal box prize ca. 1939. This balsa strip, 5½” x 1”, contains the parts for two airplanes, a Martin bomber and Bellanca fighter, from that period.
Specifically, the bomber appears to be a version of the B-10, or as close at the Paul Guillow company (manufacturer of this item) wanted to get.
The fighter is a Bellanca 28-90, an American Army Air Force plane, which apparently saw much more use by Chinese, Mexican, and Spanish forces.
While cereal box prizes were fairly common at the time, Kellogg’s
    Pep
seems to have been the one that favored the airplane “kits.”
    Several from
    Pep
are available in other eBay offerings, although the Martin/Bellanca item appears to be somewhat rare.
This item is in good condition.
The smooth side of the balsa strip is particularly clean.
Nevertheless, it is over eighty years old and has some signs of age.
(While a really devoted modeler might actually be able to assemble these “models”, I wouldn’t recommend trying.)
